Branding is creating a conscious awareness about your business and a lot more goes into that than pretty logos. It’s how you present yourself to your client, your level of professionalism, it’s an obvious and contagious passion for your business.

The same look needs to overflow into the tangible spirit of your business, the things that are there to represent your business when your presence is not, like a website for example. Is it consistent? Does it tell people who you are? Does it equal your level of professionalism? Does it match your value to your target market?

Sometimes people are suspicious of little small businesses, you can remove that suspicion by making your company look bigger and more professional.

A great branding strategy can also give you a huge edge over your competitor. Sometimes even if they have been in business longer than you and may be larger, you can create a presence that equals the playing field. You know how by using a jack when you have a flat tire you can lift a car that weighs tons! How does a lightweight tool like a jack lift something so heavy? It’s called leverage. You can use that same concept to beat out your competitor!

Decide what you want; decide how you want people to see you, and manifest that in a way that is obvious and courageous. If you don’t first see it in yourself, how do you expect others to?

Many small business owners think that great branding is reserved for the Starbucks and Targets of the world, it’s not. You deserve that too.
